Syokimau is a predominately residential area. The place is named after a Kamba prophetess born in the 1800s. One of her prophesies included, the British colonization and construction of the Kenya- Uganda railway.

Location.

Syokimau is located in Machakos County approximately 9 kilometres from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and approximately 277 kilometres from the Nairobi Central District.

You can access Syokimau by road through Road A109 known as Mombasa Road. One can also access through the new expressway currently under construction.

There is also a railway station that was officially opened on 13th November 2012. The train takes approximately 30 minutes to get to the city
