collections are awesome. i think we are all aware of that. you can pick up a brand new game on release, or wait three years, and the retail game has a real collector’s value, but now you can play a game with your collection on your favorite platform all in one place.
for most drivers, winning a cup series race is a pretty big deal. but not for chase elliott. if you thought he was going to be the youngest champion in nascar history when he won the camping world truck series title two years ago, it seems he is again chasing another rookie champs race. he posted his second career cup series victory on sunday at pocono raceway and is locked in as a driver to win the may 18 playoff opener at charlotte. it would be his 19th career victory, breaking a tie for the most of any active driver.spin out: a spinout near the end of the race in a group 3 event at eldora speedway in may during training for the lucas oil 200 resulted in career-threatening injuries for the driver.
the track record here is that the driver or their team gets a six-second penalty for speeding through the start/finish line. the reason is it really messes up the timing of when all the cars are taking off on the start.
that seems fair. notice that i’m not addressing that for the truck series because i don’t see how the same could happen in that series. as for the rest of it, it sounds fair but i don’t know how i feel about the timing.
the folks at monster energy nascar cup series have a pretty easy task on their hands. they just need to decide if they want to restrict drivers to a single engine. so far, most of the chatter has been for a lower-tiered penalty that allows an engine change after a certain number of laps or a restrictor plate penalty after a certain number of races. but what is most interesting is whether that penalty would be enforced after the restrictor plate penalty hits.accelerating: new nascar vice president of racing operations steve o’donnell introduced the idea of installing an auto-engage restrictor plate last year as an engineering advantage over rivals. with super speedways like daytona and talladega, it’s a concern that restrictor plating would slow down the on-track action.
one of my other complaints about the game was that a couple of my favorite cars just didnt make the cut. i really dont like the lack of competition in the garage. i really wanted to see what we would have been seeing if the 1999 and 2003 seasons were included. for the 2000 and 2004 seasons, denny hamlin and ryan newman were the only drivers in the garage. heres my list of the cars i would have liked to see: kenny wallace ryan newman denny hamlin andy park clay campbell j.j. yeley my biggest criticism of the handling in this game is the general lack of feedback and when a car changes direction. it feels unnatural and in some cases, completely awkward to turn a car. another gripe i have is the waythe cars do not feel as different from each other at most tracks. this is most apparent at tracks with super-wide turns like watkins glen and darlington. at those tracks, this isnt even a complaint. the handling is good but, i want to feel like the car is controling how it moves. for a game from a company that isnt ea, i was really amazed by how much of a good job they did on nascar 15. even though i could immediately tell it wasnt the ea signature awesome nascar experience, the physics and everything else is spot on. unlike their ea sports titles, this has some actual car physics that you can feel. for example, at atlanta, i was driving the car on the back straightaway on a restart and the car just totally flipped aroundand started spinning out. you can really feel the difference in the car when someone takes it to the bottom of turn 1. i thought that these types of effects were about to turn this into some toy demo car. 5ec8ef588b
